Description
This full-day private tour crosses two of the most photographed landscapes in Italy: the bare clay ridges of the Crete Senesi and the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004. The drive itself is part of the experience, following scenic roads through isolated farmhouses, cypress-lined ridges and vineyards. The first stop is Pienza, built by Pope Pius II in the 15th century as a model Renaissance town and today famous for its Pecorino di Pienza. From there, the road climbs to Montepulciano: entering through the lower gate, you walk up to Piazza Grande, with Michelozzo's Palazzo Comunale and the Duomo. Montepulciano gives its name to Vino Nobile, a wine produced in this area. A private driver takes you for the day, with departure from your hotel or chosen location. A licensed guide, a cheese tasting in Pienza and a Vino Nobile tasting in Montepulciano can all be arranged on request.
